Help & Resources
Everything you need to get the most out of Sit Stay Wag.
How the Course Works
Core Foundations
Day-one essentials: motivation, mechanics, and the basics every dog needs.
Essential Obedience
Structured obedience: stays, recall, impulse control, and public manners.
Advanced Proficiency
Tricks, behavior modification, husbandry, and real-world problem-solving.
The curriculum is 28 lessons organized into three tiers. You can move through them in any order, but they are designed to build on each other — starting with Core Foundations gives you the strongest base.
Every lesson includes a video walkthrough and a full written guide you can read at your own pace. Mark a lesson complete when you feel confident in the material — there is no time limit and no expiry on your access.
Your progress is saved automatically. The Resume button in the navigation bar will always take you back to where you left off.
The 5-Week Training Plan
The 5-week plan is a structured daily schedule that takes you from day-one basics to real-world skills in 25 sessions. It draws from both the positive reinforcement curriculum and foundational leadership principles, combined into a single progressive program.
Foundation
Training principles, luring sit and down, and understanding your dog's motivational signals.
Stays and Recall
Fading the lure, building verbal cues, and the beginning of stay duration and distance.
Self-Control
Leave it, wait, leash walking foundations, and understanding the root causes of common problem behaviors.
Proofing
Taking every behavior you've built into new environments and around real-world distractions.
Real-World Polish
Full public training sessions, final verbal discrimination testing, and a celebration run-through.
Tips for success
- Keep sessions to 5–10 minutes. Short sessions with high engagement beat long ones with low focus.
- Train before meals, not after. A slightly hungry dog is a motivated dog.
- End every session while your dog is still succeeding — never push to the point of frustration.
- Use the Session Timer inside each lesson to stay on schedule.
- If a day feels hard, repeat it — there is no penalty for taking more time.
Your Dashboard Tools
Your course dashboard includes four tools designed to reinforce your daily practice between lessons.
Fulfillment Tracker
A daily check-in for Exercise, Discipline (structured training), and Affection. Dogs are balanced when all three are met consistently.
Tap each toggle once you've fulfilled it for the day. Your streak counter shows how many consecutive days you've checked in. Even one toggle counts — consistency matters more than perfection.
Socialization Log
Track every new person, place, dog, sound, or object your dog encounters. Socialization is most critical in the first 16 weeks, but it matters throughout life.
Select a category (person, place, dog, sound, or object), add an optional note, and tap Log. Your weekly count and recent entries appear below the form. Aim for at least 3–5 new experiences per week during puppyhood.
Sit to Say Please
A daily practice prompt that builds one of the most powerful habits in dog training — requiring a calm sit before every resource (food, door, affection).
A new prompt appears each day. Practice it once — it takes under two minutes. Tap Dismiss when done. The card resets the following morning with the next prompt.
Problem Finder
Having a specific issue? Skip directly to the lesson that addresses it — no hunting through the curriculum.
Tap the problem that matches what you're dealing with. You'll be taken directly to the relevant lesson with targeted guidance for that behavior.
Using the Session Timer
The Session Timer appears inside each lesson, between the video and the written content. It is the single most effective tool for improving your training — keeping sessions short is the number-one habit that separates good trainers from frustrated ones.
5 min
New behaviors, young puppies
8 min
Established skills, most dogs
10 min
Proofing and distraction work
- Choose a duration, press Start, then begin your training session.
- When the timer ends, a gentle visual cue tells you to wrap up — even if it feels like things are going well.
- Pause anytime if you need to handle something, then resume where you left off.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need any equipment to get started?
No special equipment is required. A small bag of high-value treats (small pieces of chicken, cheese, or a commercial training treat your dog goes wild for), a 6-foot leash, and a flat collar or harness are all you need for the first two weeks.
How long does each lesson take?
Reading each lesson takes 5–15 minutes. The actual training session with your dog should be no more than 5–10 minutes. Total time commitment per lesson day: about 20–30 minutes including setup and reading.
My dog is an adult — is it too late to train them?
Absolutely not. Adult dogs often learn faster than puppies because they have longer attention spans. The curriculum works equally well for dogs of all ages. The only adjustment: adult dogs may need more repetitions to unlearn existing habits, but they are entirely capable of learning new ones.
How do I switch to the 5-Week Plan?
If you chose Self-Paced during onboarding, go to your course dashboard and look for the 5-Week Plan section. You can switch at any time — your existing progress is saved and your new pathway picks up from a sensible starting point.
Can I go back to a lesson I already completed?
Yes. All lessons remain accessible permanently. Completed lessons stay marked with a checkmark but can be opened and reviewed any time. Progress is never locked or lost.
What if I miss a day on the 5-week plan?
Just pick up on the next scheduled day. There is no penalty for missed days. The plan is a guide, not a grading system. Many owners find it helpful to repeat a week if life got in the way — the schedule is yours to adapt.
The video is not loading — what should I try?
First, check your internet connection and try refreshing the page. If the video still won't load, try a different browser or disable browser extensions (some ad-blockers block Vimeo embeds). If the issue persists, contact support.
How do I get a refund?
We offer a 30-day satisfaction guarantee. Contact us via the Contact page with your purchase email and we will process your refund within 2 business days. See our full policy at /refund.
